A 22-year-old woman from Bengaluru has sparked widespread admiration online after firmly pushing back against alleged harassment by members of her housing society and taking the matter to court. The 22-year-old shared her experience on Reddit, detailing how what began as a quiet evening at home escalated into a legal battle involving a Rs 62 lakh civil suit.According to her account, the incident took place on a Saturday night when five friends visited her apartment. She clarified that there was no party, loud music, or disturbance, and that they were simply cooking and talking inside the flat. The situation reportedly escalated when a society member confronted her at her door. "One uncle knocked and said "bachelors are not allowed here, call
the owner you've rented this flat from." I told him I am the owner and that's your no goddamn business. I shut the door. That burst his ego there."She alleged that shortly after, four to five men entered her living room without permission and accused her and her friends of drinking alcohol and consuming drugs, while allegedly ordering her to vacate the apartment by the next day. The woman said that her male friends stepped in and forced the men out of the flat.
During the confrontation, "one guy who tried to 'check' my flat got slapped while trespassing. Unable to assert control, the society members then called the police.''Recounting the police visit, the woman wrote, "Police asked who owns the flat. I said I do. They asked me to show papers; I refused because we weren't creating any nuisance and they had no right to enter my home. I live alone and my father had insisted on installing a living-room camera for safety, everything was recorded."In a subsequent update, she revealed that she issued legal notices to both the housing society and individual board members, accusing them of trespass, harassment, and assault. She also shared CCTV footage with the builder and the society chairman, who reportedly acted swiftly by removing the accused board members and fining them Rs 20,000 each.Explaining the legal course she chose, the woman stated, "We claimed compensation of Rs 62 lakhs. My lawyer was upfront that getting the full amount in India is almost impossible, but even 10-12 per cent would still be substantial. We also filed for a permanent injunction restraining them from ever contacting me again." As her posts gained traction, social media users flooded the comments section with praise, applauding her for standing her ground and pursuing civil remedies. One user wrote, "You're correct to take all those steps and no one can just barge into somebody's house. Go ahead with that case,"Another added, "Finally we have someone who's pursuing civil remedies and not just stupid criminal charges which end up nowhere."
