A social media post has gone viral after a woman named Supriya shared an unusual email she reportedly sent to her HR department, linking her work-from-home request to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to reduce fuel consumption amid rising global oil prices and tensions in West Asia.In the email, Supriya informed HR that she would continue working from home until 10th May 2027, citing the Prime Minister’s call to support efforts to reduce fuel usage. She described it as her small contribution toward the nation.“This is to inform you that I will be working from home till 10th May 2027, as per the request made by our PM Modi to support the work from home initiative for the next one year. This is the least I can do for my country. Thank you,”
she wrote in the email. She also shared a screenshot of the message on X, captioning it, “I’ve done my part for the nation… your turn now.”
The post quickly gained traction online, with users reacting with humor and sarcasm. One user responded jokingly, “Wow, you got rewarded 3 months' salary. All paid leave encasement immediately after that.”Another commented, “Dear Modi ji, Please implement Pradhan Mantri Work From Home Yojana ASAP.”A third user added a satirical take: “HR Replied: In fact, we’ve decided to take your patriotism even further. Effective immediately, you will be working from home permanently. We have relieved you of all duties, responsibilities, and that pesky salary that was clearly funding all those unnecessary commutes,”Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called on people to adopt work-from-home practices to help reduce fuel consumption. His remarks came amid a surge in global fuel prices, including in countries such as the US and Pakistan, driven by tensions related to the Iran crisis."During the Corona period, we adopted work from home, online meetings, video conferences and developed many such systems. We had also become accustomed to them," he said.
