For the last few days, the ‘Rs 370 Biryani’ controversy has been all that the internet is talking about– and for all the correct reasons, as it was the online buzz and outrage that finally held the controversy’s ‘source’ accountable. However, amid all the drama, it was the online food delivery app Zomato that found itself in trouble, over which the app is now reacting. For those not aware, the ‘Rs 370 Biryani’ controversy erupted over a highly misogynistic remark by a Gurugram web developer, Himanshu Jangra.Interacting with comedian Pranit More at a show, Jangra had expressed how he felt entitled to questionable favours after he spent Rs 370 on biryani while on a date with a woman. Recalling the date, Jangra explained everything that happened

on the date, where the woman wanted to leave after the dinner, which had left the 23-year-old web developer disappointed. “Maine kaha 370 rupay lage hain, main wasool toh karunga,” he had claimed at the show.The video went viral immediately, and left many angry. Controversy ExplainedNotification Controversy:Amid the entire drama, Zomato suddenly found itself at the receiving end. An alleged notification by Zomato began to circulate online, which did not sit well with most. “Biryani Bheju? Rs 370 ki hai bas,” the notification read. Sharing a screenshot of the same, a man called out Zomato: “How is this funny to you? @zomato. Zomato think such an insensitive topic is another brand promotion of theirs? Seriously? Are we stopping to this level to find this funny or we are insensitive enough to not care about it!!”

Zomato's Reaction To Notification Controversy:However, soon after the same, Zomato issued a social media post, rejecting the claim and calling the notification fake. “Biryani is dinner, not consent. The screenshot of the distasteful notification you may have seen with our name is fake. We did not write or send it,” Zomato stated.
