An Indian professional and social media influencer has opened up about his decision to return from Canada, saying he has been repeatedly asked the same question since moving back to India 1.5 years ago.
In a social media post on Instagram, Shashwat Khare explained that his decision was driven by two major reasons. The first, he said, was purely professional."There are no jobs in Canada in the corporate sector. If you don't have PR, your chances of getting a job are just one or two percent," he said. He explained that while people believe jobs are easily available, the reality on the ground is very different.Sharing a personal example, Shashwat said he had interviewed for the same company in Canada, where he is currently employed in India. Despite having similar skills and experience, he was rejected for the role in Canada. He added that the jobs he was getting there instead were not the kind of work he had moved abroad for. "I didn't go there to do those jobs," he said. Like many others, he had gone to Canada hoping for a better life than the one he had in India. But after living there he realised, "I was already living a better life in India". He remarked that the life people dream of abroad often takes eight to ten years of struggle to reach. "Those eight or ten years, you would miss the major moments of your life," he stated.
