‘Abuse Of Power’: Woman With Medical Problem Allegedly Asked To Give Up Seat For ‘Ticketless Judge’

Calling out India’s “blatenet” VIP culture, an internet user recently took to social media to recall a rather frustrating incident that happened to them on board a train. As per the netizen’s Reddit post, they were travelling with their sister, who had a medical condition, compelling them to deliberately book the lower berth of an Indian Railways train’s 1AC coach. However, shortly after the two boarded, they were approached by a "ticketless" woman claiming to be a “judge”. Allegedly, the “judge” was also accompanied by a cop and the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE). “When will this vip culture end? Abuse of power in 1AC! claiming to be a judge stormed into the cabin with Police and a TT,” the post read. Allegedly, the trio started demanding for the reserved lower berth. The passenger with the medical issue explained her condition; however, that hardly budged the “judge”. She further “threatened” the Redditor’s sister to give up her seat. To the duo’s surprise, even the cop and the TTE "sided with the woman”.“When my sister explained her medical condition and refused to give up her reserved seat, the ‘judge’ threatened to have her thrown off the train. Shockingly, the TT and Police sided with the lady and forced my sister to climb to the upper berth, causing her immense physical distress,” the post continued. As per the Reddit post, the frustrated passenger raised a complaint on the RailMadad platform, but that provided “absolutely no help”.“I raised a complaint on RailMadad, but absolutely no help was provided. Is this how paying passengers and people with medical conditions are treated?” the post concluded. The post was quick to go viral, pulling in many reactions.
