Bengaluru-based 22-year-old has sparked a conversation online after openly declaring that he’s walking away from his full-time job — without lining up a backup plan. The young man, Aanshul Uthaiah, who also creates content on the side, shared in his video “Sunday ramblings” that he no longer feels connected to his work and believes it’s taking a toll on his mental well-being. He said he has reached a stage where continuing feels impossible.“I’m quitting my job tomorrow and I genuinely have no idea what’s next. I hate what I do, and I hate where my life is at right now,” he admitted, calling his current routine a waste of time.
Uthaiah revealed that he has offers from two Australian universities for a master’s programme but is hesitant to go ahead with either. “I don’t want to go. I don’t want to work. I’m just not into it. I’m extremely confused,” he said, acknowledging that his parents are upset with his decision.Over the past three months, he has shifted his energy towards content creation and gained about 10,000 followers — something he hopes to pursue seriously. “At least I see myself doing this. I want to put all my effort into it and see where it leads,” he said. The video has drawn a wide range of reactions. Many viewers criticised him for what they perceived as a ''privileged outlook.'' “Take away his luxuries and support system, and then let him talk about quitting a job. He sounds arrogant,” one user wrote.Others, however, applauded him for choosing mental health over an uninspiring career path. “You can’t become someone new unless you move on from who you are right now. All the best, junior,” a supporter commented. Some users also related to his confusion, saying career uncertainty and burnout are becoming increasingly common among young professionals. One comment summed it up: “Not knowing what to do is powerful in itself. Keep going — you’ve got this.''
