Forget about paying rent and security deposit in lakhs– it seems like the IT Hub of India- Bengaluru- has reached a level where tenants will now have to pay even for ‘visiting’ the place they want to rent! Confused? Well, so was the internet, along with being stunned, after a man shared about a bizarre incident that allegedly happened with him. As per the man’s Reddit post on the same, he recently moved to Bengaluru and was looking for a flat to rent.During his search- almost 2 months ago- he came across a high-rise society, where he asked the security guard about vacant flats. Luckily for him, there were some. He allegedly got in contact with a flat owner and asked if he could see the flat. The owner guided him to seek help from the guard.
However, when he asked the security guard to assist him in visiting the property, the response that he got left him speechless. The man was allegedly asked to pay “one month’s rent”, just to “see the flat”.Understandably, the Redditor refused to take the matter forward and left. The post, on the other hand, went viral. Some speculated the possibility of the guard being the scammer, while some blamed the owner. A few also called it a ‘scam’.“Got asked one month's rent just to view a flat,” the post read.Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post. Check out the viral post:“This happened about 2 months ago when I had just moved to Bangalore for work and was looking for a place to rent. I was walking around a high-rise and asked the security guard if there were any vacant flats. He said yes and gave me the owner’s phone number. I called the owner, spoke to him, and he told me to ask the security to show me the flat. So I went back to the security guy thinking he’d just take me upstairs. Instead, he tells me I need to pay one month’s rent for him to show the apartment. I honestly didn’t even know how to react. This wasn’t brokerage or anything official. Just money to open the door and show the place. I obviously walked away, but I keep thinking about it. Is this some common scam or has anyone else faced this while house hunting in Bangalore?” the post read. The post was shared on Reddit by the handle ‘Silent-Character-907’. The post was shared 5 days ago and pulled many views from netizens.
