‘One-uping a bride’ or ‘up-staging’ her is not exactly a belief that exists in countries like India, Pakistan, Nepal, or such- basically, countries where no other get-up can ever outshine THE bridal lehenga. However, that did not stop the internet from trolling Pakistani Minister Maryam Nawaz, as netizens felt that Pakistan’s Punjab Chief Minister was trying to outdo the bride at her son’s wedding! Nawaz is the daughter of former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, whereas her son, Junaid Safdar, recently tied the holy knot with Shanzeh Ali Rohale, granddaughter of Rohail Asghar, an ally of the Sharifs. The grand wedding took place in Lahore, where almost every event went viral on social media. However, the thing that went the most viral was not the lavish
wedding itself, which somewhat “contradicted Pakistan's economy and lifestyle,” or the bride’s Indian designer dresses- but it was Maryam Nawaz instead- and her attire. As per most netizens, Nawaz’s dress was a “bit too outdone”. Netizens were quick to troll her over her loud attire that was “shining” brighter than the bride’s outfit. Some netizens even joked about her being "obsessed” with “dressing up as a bride". However, not everyone was against her; some did agree with the “up-staging” debate, yet appreciated her looks and the "elegant" way with which she carried herself.Apart from Maryam Nawaz, another factor that seemingly ticked netizens off was the bride choosing Indian designers. Reportedly, Rohale wore a Sabyasachi lehenga for the mehendi ceremony, pairing it with statement kundan jewellery. For the wedding ceremony and Nikah, the bride wore a Tarun Tahiliani saree.ALSO READ: Former Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif's Granddaughter-in-Law Chooses Indian Designers for Wedding – Sparks Social Media UproarLet’s take a look at some of the most viral reactions: “Maryam Nawaz and her never ending obsession to dress up/act as a bride,” a user said.

Maryam Nawaz, in her late 50s, is dressed up like a bride, trying to compete with Junaid Safdar’s second bride. What a toxic old woman. pic.twitter.com/aA9lqtE99g
