Diet Coke is quietly disappearing from shelves across several Indian cities, and regular drinkers are starting to notice. Since mid-April 2026, the popular zero-sugar beverage has been in short supply in metros like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad and Gurugram. It is largely unavailable on quick-commerce platforms such as Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy Instamart, while local stores and restaurants are also running out of stock. The shortage appears to be linked to global aluminium can constraints and broader supply chain disruptions, which have affected distribution in India. Supermarkets across cities including Pune and Bengaluru are reporting empty shelves, even as demand remains steady. While many complained about not finding the drink, some shared
that it is still available in parts of the Delhi-NCR region. But the situation has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with users jokingly comparing the scarcity to the LPG crisis triggered by the Iran war! Some even called the cylinderical can "the new LPG".
