Pradhan stepped down more than a month after students began demonstrating at Delhi's Jantar Mantar over alleged exam irregularities and the NEET paper leak controversy. Led by the satirical Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), the movement later spread beyond the national capital, drawing participation from students across several states.Addressing the crowd after announcing the resignation, Dipke said that resignations do not come easily under the current administration but added that the students had proved sustained public pressure could bring change. Quoting the popular line, "jhukti hai duniya, jhukane wala chahiye" (the world bows when someone makes it bow), he dedicated the moment to the protesters.He then held up a poster and read aloud the names of students who allegedly died following the NEET paper leak controversy, saying they were the young lives whose futures had been deeply impacted by the issue.Negotiations between the CJP and the government had earlier reached a stalemate over the demand for Pradhan's resignation. On Saturday morning, the group had maintained that no further talks would take place unless the minister was removed from office.The protesters had put forward three key demands:1) Resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan2) No legal action against students who participated in the protests3) Compensation for the families of students who died by suicide following the NEET paper leakIn his post on X announcing his resignation, Pradhan wrote: "I hold deep respect for the aspirations, sentiments, and rightful expectations of the youth of this country.
