A Delhi man’s LinkedIn post is going viral on social media– however, not for good reasons. Taking to the internet, the man shared about a “young founder”, who had allegedly refused to take up an “emergency project” offered by him on a Friday– by simply asking him to “connect on Monday” instead. Hopping on to another founder, the man eventually found someone else who agreed to work on a weekend, on rather short notice. Recalling the incident, the Delhi man stated how a simple “no” to working on a weekend ended up as a “lost opportunity” for the first founder. However, as soon as the Delhi man’s post on “disadvantages” of ditching “weekend opportunities” went viral, criticism was all that followed! As per most netizens, it was "completely okay"
for the first man to refuse the offer, pointing out how “living in the present” is more important. The Delhi man, on the other hand, had also shared his view on the “importance” of "availability", specifically in the early stages of one's career, if achieving “extraordinary success” is the goal; however, that too did not sit well with most.Netizens were quick to call out the man, saying that he was simply “measuring” success based on his own "experience", whereas being successful is something that may vary from person to person. This is not the first time that an employer on social media got trolled or faced backlash over such posts. Coming back to the Delhi man’s LinkedIn post, Times Now could not confirm the authenticity. Check out the viral post:“Last Friday, I reached out to a very young founder for a project and his response was- Let's connect on Monday. Mind you, this was an exciting and important project! So I called someone else that same night, and the other guy picked up immediately, we discussed the project, and I gave him the work. And when the 1st guy reached out on Monday, I told him the opportunity was gone. The point of me talking about this is not to rant about the 1st guy, it's just to put it out there that availability, at the start of your career, is a very important skill. I understand that ‘work-life balance’ is important, but there's a time for everything. Let's ‘speak next week’ doesn't work when you're starting your career,” the post read. “Successful people can afford to say ‘let's talk next week’ because opportunities chase them. But if you're new, you chase opportunities. You talk now, or in an hour or if needed then at 10 PM on a Friday if that's when someone calls. The person who got the work wasn't more talented than the first guy. He was just more available. So yeah, set boundaries once you've built credibility. But until then? Remember that your weekends are not more important than your future. The market doesn't care about your schedule. It only cares about your hustle. So, please stop acting like you are successful before you actually are IF you want to be extraordinarily successful,” the post concluded. The post was shared on LinkedIn by the handle ‘Aryan Anurag’. The post was shared 2 days ago and pulled many views from netizens.
