A random Tuesday- November 18- no longer remained random after multiple, rather popular services, like X (formerly Twitter), OpenAI, Spotify, and more, began to go down one after the other. Naturally, the outage was quick to lead to major outrage and even a memefest as netizens resorted to anything and everything, in order to cope with the issue. Turns out, it was Cloudflare that led to the internet meltdown. For those not aware, it is a company in the US that provides ‘internet services, including content delivery network services, cybersecurity, DDoS mitigation, reverse proxies, Domain Name Service, and more’. All in all, the internet was having a rather tough day. With that said, one can understand the reaction netizens were quick to give
as soon as they got a chance to blame someone for the drama. Believe it or not, it was not Cloudflare that people questioned, but it was a system engineer instead, who had allegedly joined the company the same day!Taking to social media, a man shared a picture of the reception area, seemingly at Cloudflare, along with the caption, “First day in #Cloudflare as system engineer, wish me luck.” However, with the man’s first day coinciding with the outage, netizens were quick to grab the ‘meme opportunity’ over the matter. From most asking ‘what button’ the man pressed, to others joking about him deliberately causing the outage for an ‘early off’, netizens surely went all out with their creativity. The outage happened at around 11 AM on Tuesday. The company also confirmed the incident, stating that it was receiving reports of users encountering ‘widespread 500 errors’. The company further clarified that its Cloudflare Dashboard and API are also experiencing severe disruptions. "We are working to understand the full impact and mitigate this problem," Cloudflare stated in a statement.Circling back to the man’s ‘first day at Cloudflare’ post, the man on Wednesday claimed that he had now been fired. “*** fired me on my first day idk why. So I started my own startup,” the man’s comment read. Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post.
