Bengaluru is currently experiencing a series of heatwaves, with many residents taking to social media to express their surprise at the city’s unusually high temperatures. Amid this conversation, a video has gone viral in which a woman shared that she installed an air conditioner to cope with the heat and is now being “judged so hard” by the internet.Bengaluru’s weather has long been known for its pleasant climate, but in recent years, the city has been witnessing heatwave-like conditions. The video was shared on Instagram by a user identified as @bhargavi_jha. It shows technicians installing an air conditioner in her home. Over the video, a text reads, “Dear Bangalore, I tolerated the traffic for your weather. This feels like a betrayal!” The clip
was captioned, “Nazar is real.”
The video has since gone viral on social media, garnering numerous views, likes, and a wide range of reactions. However, a majority of users appeared to be “judging her so hard.”One user wrote, “True Bangaloreans will never buy an AC. We wait for the rains, haha.” Another commented, “As a Bangalorean, buying an AC feels illegal.” A third remarked, “And global warming, lol.”Another user pointed out, “Bangalore’s green cover went from 78% to 6%. It’s not the city’s fault, it’s overcrowding. Hold the government and illegal construction accountable.”One more user critically noted, “It isn’t Bengaluru’s fault. People are overcrowding the city, building huge apartments and workspaces with a lot of concrete, while cutting down trees and drying up lakes to accommodate growing needs. The problem is the people, not the city. The city can recover in a year or two if the population reduces, more trees are planted, and the use of heat-generating materials is controlled. The city isn’t betraying the people, it’s the other way around. Homes in places like Jayanagar and interior parts of JP Nagar and Basavanagudi are still cool. Why? Trees!”
