104 skydivers from 20 different nations set a new world record after they performed jaw-dropping mid-air canopy formation, defying physics in a spectacular display of practice, excellence and dare. The stunt was performed on November 22 over Lake Wales, Florida.Video of the mid-air canopy formation show 104 skydivers displaying their excellent parachuting skills, aligning with each other to form a giant star pattern, breaking world record for the largest ever Canopy Relative Work (CPW) formation ever.In a video shared by Instagram handle Performance Designs, they said, "This Thanksgiving, we’re giving thanks for a new 104-way CRW world record!"
"To everyone who built this historic formation from the base, to the very last dock, to the video team and to everyone on the ground supporting them, congrats. You made something unforgettable."In order to perform such stunts, a team requires a supportive logistics backing, multiple airplanes, coordination with Air Traffic Control (ATC) centres among other requirements.Meanwhile, Georgia based WALB News quoted Chris Gay who co-organised skydiving formation saying that three world-record Judges confirmed that 104 skydivers created a new record of forming a mid-air CPW."When we have an event like this, it’s the journey. And so many people changed their lifestyle, the way they ate. The way they exercised, the way they slept. They got into much better shape than they have been in 10 or 20 years. So, a lot of people are claiming that that’s one of the big things for the event,” he told WALB News. The last such spectacular display of dare was performed in 2007 with 100 skydivers.
