new clip from Pune has kicked off a fresh language-related controversy online. The viral video shows a young Gujarati man and a local resident locked in a heated exchange after the former was allegedly
told to speak Marathi while driving through the city. The footage opens with the Gujarati man seated in his car, firmly refusing to switch languages. He argues that being Gujarati means he shouldn’t be forced to speak a particular language, and even asserts that Hindi should be used across India, pushing the phone away in frustration.Meanwhile, the Pune resident repeatedly insists that Marathi is the language people should use in the city. The disagreement intensifies until the video jumps to a later moment, where the young man appears calmer and apologises. He explains that he never meant to offend Marathi speakers, acknowledges that all languages deserve respect, and ends with an apology. In the Instagram video, the youngster is heard saying, “Only Hindi will work in India. Don’t do this Marathi Hindi with me. I am Gujarati. What will you do? When you don’t even know the person in front…."
