In a moving display of compassion and humanity, a woman constable from Odisha’s Malkangiri district has won hearts online after she stepped in to help a mother taking an important exam — even going so
far as to breastfeed the woman’s crying infant to comfort him.The incident took place at the Bibiguda examination centre on Sunday during the RI and Amin recruitment tests. The constable, identified as Rajani Majhi, was on duty for exam security when she noticed a candidate, Bhairavi Mandal, visibly distressed because her one-and-a-half-month-old baby was crying outside the hall.Sensing the mother’s helplessness, Rajani came forward and offered to take care of the baby so Bhairavi could finish her paper without worry. For nearly two hours, Rajani held the infant in her arms, soothing and comforting him. According to an India Today report, the officer — who is herself the mother of a nine-month-old boy — even breastfed the baby out of pure empathy and maternal instinct to calm him down.
