A Reddit post by an Indian immigrant has sparked a candid discussion about life and work in Europe, challenging the widely held perception that moving abroad guarantees comfort and financial ease.In a post on r/delhi titled “Reality of working in Europe as an Indian immigrant, not what people think,” the man reflected on how his expectations shifted after experiencing life there firsthand. “Everyone back home thinks going abroad = easy money, better life. I used to think the same,” he wrote.Sharing details of his routine, he described the physically demanding nature of his work. Having worked as a truck driver and now in a warehouse, he said the job involves continuous labour with little room for rest. “You can’t even sit for 2 minutes during
work hours every day, it feels like you’re just pushing your body to the limit,” he noted, adding that it has begun affecting his health.Beyond the physical toll, he also spoke about the emotional challenges of living far from home. Without the support systems and familiarity he had in India, he said daily life can feel isolating. “Here? Almost impossible. You’re on your own,” he wrote. He further highlighted the difficulties of adjusting to a new culture and language, saying the transition is far from smooth. “Everything feels 10x harder,” he added.
