There used to be a time when issues like ‘discrimination’ based on class and income were a huge point of discussion in India. In fact, there are quite a few names and faces who gave their entire lives to abolishing this very discrimination. All in all, ‘class discrimination’ was one of the most addressed and talked about issues just a few decades ago. However, just because the discussion on the same has reduced, it does not mean that the issue itself has also been eliminated. Reminding everyone of the same, a Delhi man took to social media and recalled an incident.As per the man, he was buying dry fruits from a shop when the said incident unfolded. Allegedly, a man who “looked” like someone from a “lower-income group” came to the shop to buy some “chilgoze”.
He ended up buying 50 grams of ‘chilgoze’ for “Rs 250”. The customer was about to take it home when he spotted a few rotten pieces, due to which he asked the shopkeeper to exchange the pieces– only for the dry fruit seller to tell him that such things are not for “people like him” to buy: “Bura mat maanna, par yeh tum jaise logon ke liye nahi hota.”The man was allegedly sent by someone else to buy the dry fruit, to which the shopkeeper then asked the customer to ask the original buyer to come to the shop instead: “Unse kehna next time khud lene aaye (Ask them- original buyer- to come).”The incident left the Delhi man stunned. Taking to his social media handle, he recalled the entire thing and dubbed it an example of why “India is beyond repair”.However, as soon as the post went viral, most netizens blamed the Delhi man instead, calling him out for not raising his voice on behalf of the humiliated customer.Times Now could not confirm the details and the authenticity of the post.Check out the viral post: “Yesterday, I went to a dry fruit shop to buy some dry fruits. I gave him my list and waited for the order to be packed. Meanwhile, a person came in and enquired about chilgoze. The shopkeeper told him it cost ₹250 for 50 grams. The person appeared to be from a lower-income group. He said that someone had sent him to buy this dry fruit. He asked for 50 grams to be packed and handed over ₹250,” the post read. “While checking the packet, he noticed that some pieces were not of good quality and asked the shopkeeper to return it. The statement the shopkeeper made shocked me and says a lot about this country. He said: Bura mat maanna, par yeh tum jaise logon ke liye nahi hota… unse kehna next time khud lene aaye. The person left without saying anything,” the post continued. The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the handle ‘kapsology’. It was shared yesterday and pulled more than 155K views from people.
