A Class 3 student walking into a police station because she lost her homework notebook has melted hearts across the internet. The entire incident, especially the little girl thanking the police for helping her, has now gone viral on social media.The case comes from Madhya Pradesh’s Shajapur district, where Cherry, a schoolgirl in class 3, went to the police station with her father after misplacing her school bag while travelling in an auto-rickshaw. What worried her the most wasn’t the bag itself, but the homework notebooks inside it.In a now-viral video, Cherry is heard explaining her problem in her own innocent words, “Cherry Nayak, main auto mein mera bag bhool gayi thi. Usme mera homework tha, toh main homework kaise karti? Maine police uncle
ko bata diya, toh unhone mera bag dhoondh diya. Thank you,” she says, thanking the officers who helped her.Moved by the child’s tears and her concern for her notebooks and water bottle, the police immediately sprang into action. During their inquiry, it emerged that Cherry had been travelling home with her family in an auto-rickshaw and had accidentally left her school bag behind.
As per local news reports, police officials began scanning CCTV footage from across the city and eventually spotted visuals of Cherry and her family boarding an auto-rickshaw near the Police Chowki intersection. After sustained efforts, Assistant Sub-Inspector Dharmendra Parste and Traffic Police Head Constable Sunil managed to trace the auto-rickshaw. The school bag was recovered from the driver, Parvez Khan, and brought to the SDOP office in Shujalpur.Shujalpur SDOP Nimish Deshmukh personally called Cherry and her family to the office and handed over the bag. The moment left the young girl visibly overjoyed. In a heartwarming gesture, traffic police officers placed the bag back on Cherry’s shoulders before sending her home. At the family’s request, the auto driver was also advised to immediately hand over any forgotten belongings to the police in the future.Speaking about the incident, SDOP Nimish Deshmukh said the police were touched by the child’s attachment to her school bag and acted swiftly using CCTV footage. He also appealed to drivers to act responsibly if passengers leave behind their belongings.Cherry’s father and grandfather expressed heartfelt gratitude to the police, while the video of the little girl thanking the “police uncle” continues to win hearts online, reminding many that sometimes, the smallest cases leave the biggest impact.
