Not every Indian out there is about displaying some of the most problematic public behaviours– some seemingly do carry ‘civic sense’ as well. Talking to LinkedIn, a Bengaluru man recently shared about an incident that left him impressed and even inspired. As per the man’s post, he witnessed a woman cleaning the metro floor after her young son accidentally vomited inside the metro coach. Allegedly, the mother simply used her own handkerchief for the same, displaying her impressive understanding of “responsibility and ownership”.Calling it a “big lesson”, the man highlighted how the passenger did not leave the task for others, and took it as her own “duty”, rather than treating it as someone else's “job”.The post immediately went viral, pulling
all kinds of reactions. Most loved the woman’s gesture, while some called it an “isolated incident” for a nation like India. “Today while traveling in Kolkata Metro, I witnessed a small incident that gave a big lesson.A kid suddenly vomited inside the metro coach. Instead of ignoring it or leaving it for others, his mother immediately cleaned the floor using her own handkerchief. No complaints,No excuses,Just responsibility. This is a powerful reminder for all of us as IndiansPublic assets are our assets.Whether it’s metro, roads, offices, or any shared space, maintaining cleanliness is our duty, not just someone else’s job.Real change doesn’t start from policies, it starts from mindset. If each one of us takes ownership, our country will automatically become cleaner and better,” the post read.
