Renting or owning properties in some of India's major cities has seemingly turned into a challenge. So much so that even people with crores in their pocket are struggling to find a ‘good’ place to live.
Sounds like a nightmare? Well, the nightmare-in-question turned real for this Gurugram couple who allegedly failed to find a ‘decent’ house to buy, despite having a budget of “Rs 1.7 crore”. Taking to social media, the man shared the entire situation, and how everything left the duo at their wits. The couple previously lived in cities like Pune and Bengaluru, and only recently moved to Gurugram. After moving to the new city, the duo began their apartment hunting, only to come across builders who were “either mediocre or straight-up terrible”, who were allegedly showing them properties with "pathetic construction quality.”As per the man’s Reddit post on the same, he would have bought a good place by now– if only he were in Pune, Bengaluru or Hyderabad. The man further bashed Gurugram’s air quality, drainage system, and quality of life in general. The man further claimed that he is “stuck in a loop of overpriced, low-quality options,” which has left him and his wife frustrated. The post went viral in an instant, leaving netizens reacting. Most suggested the man to look for societies with flats worth “Rs 70 to 80 lakhs”, while others called Gurugram an expensive city to live in. Times Now could not confirm the details of the post. Check out the viral post:“Feeling completely defeated by Gurgaon’s real estate market,” the post read. “So, I’m honestly at my wits’ end with Gurgaon real estate. We have decent savings, and we want to buy a home—but not under the crushing stress of a massive loan. Most of my friends in Pune and Noida have already bought homes, all under 1 Cr. One friend bought a 2 Cr apartment because she had ancestral property money. Meanwhile, here I am feeling completely left behind. Both of us together earn around 1 Cr per year. We’ve set our budget at 1.5 Cr, and we’re willing to stretch maybe to 1.7 Cr. And guess what? There is literally nothing worth even that money in Gurgaon,” the post read. “Every builder is either mediocre or straight-up terrible. The construction quality is pathetic. I genuinely don’t understand why the f**k property prices are so insanely high here when the city barely offers anything. IT industry? Way better in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune. Infrastructure? Please. Roads? Don’t even get me started. Rainy season? Might as well buy a boat. Air ? polluted. We’ve been searching for months and all brokers show us the same nonsense—either too old, too far, terrible construction quality, or no maintenance issues. It’s like the entire market is broken. Sometimes I wonder how this city even justifies its pricing. If things keep going this way, Gurgaon will eat itself alive. There’s zero value for money. Coming from Bangalore and Pune, I miss builders who actually care about quality—Prestige, Pristine, etc,” the post continued. The post was shared on Reddit by the handle ‘Naive-Awareness-6832’. The post was shared today and pulled many views from netizens.
