A morning that was turning into a major hassle for a Mumbai man ended up turning surprisingly wholesome after an auto rickshaw driver decided to be the most understanding of the situation. Taking to social media, the man- Shubham Gune- recalled the incident. As per Gune, he was running late for a client meeting, during which he accidentally paid Rs 15,682 to the driver, instead of Rs 156 through an online paying app. The man did not realise the extra payment until after he returned from the meeting!“I sent an auto driver ₹15,682 by accident. Then my morning got worse. An international client, in the city for one day, wanted to meet at 7am. I was late, fumbling with GPay outside the building. The ride had cost ₹156. I typed ₹15,682, hit pay,
and ran upstairs. I never looked at the screen. The meeting was ugly. One shot at this client, one day, and it went nowhere. I came down with it all over my face, sure I’d wasted the only morning I’d get. I still had no idea I was ₹15,526 lighter. His name is Altaf. He was parked exactly where he’d dropped me, waiting,” the post read. Allegedly, the meeting had not gone so well, whereas the auto driver was still standing at the same spot, waiting to return the money. Allegedly, when Gune got the money back from the driver and tried to pay him the ride fare along with some extra money– the driver refused to take the fare, citing that Gune looked visibly upset over the meeting.“He walked over and told me I’d paid him too much, then sent the whole ₹15,682 back. Not the extra. All of it. I kept pushing the fare back at him– At least keep the ₹156 you’re owed. You waited, you lost rides, that’s your money– He wouldn’t take it. He could see the kind of morning I was having– It’s the start of the day for both of us, sir,” the post further read. Allegedly, it’s only after seven days that Gune again paid Rs 500 to the driver, after he received a call from the same client, who had expressed their will to work with him.“Seven days after that dead meeting, the client called. They wanted to work with me. The moment the news landed, my mind went straight back to that 7am footpath. To the man who watched me have my worst morning and decided his job was to make it better. I sent him ₹500. The fare he wouldn’t take, and a token of thanks I couldn’t price. Altaf never asked me for a thing,” added another. The post went viral, pulling varied reactions. Some appreciated the driver, while others called the incident “fake”.Times Now could not confirm the details of the post.Check out the viral post: The post was shared on LinkedIn, by the handle ‘Shubham Gune’.
