Anupam Mittal, CEO of one of the most hailed businesses, People Group, seemingly agrees with Gen Z– for doing something that is otherwise not-so-common with the older generation in the corporate world;
‘changing jobs too quickly’. Taking to social media, Mittal backed the younger generation for switching jobs too often, and stated how they “should not be shamed” for the same. The Shaadi.com CEO also took shots at “career gurus” who often “shame 22-year-olds for switching jobs every year.” Mittal seemingly agreed with the practice so much so that he shared how it is "exactly" what young professionals should be doing.The seasoned business owner also compared everything with ‘dating’, as he claimed that people somewhat “date industries, roles and cultures,” to ultimately find what “vibes” with them the most. He also stated how people usually work to discover their “passion” during their early career stages, which is why “switching” and finding the correct role is important.As soon as Mittal’s post on the same went viral, netizens began to react. Most agreed with him, commenting how work should be enjoyed, while some had otherwise to say. Check out the viral post:“Let’s stop shaming Genz for switching jobs. I see a lot of ‘career gurus’ shaming 22-year-olds for switching jobs every year. But isn’t that exactly what the youth should be doing? Early in our career, we’re discovering our passion. We’re ‘dating’ industries, roles & cultures to find what vibes. If you not feeling it, move. Don't feel bad about it. This is the time to explore. BUT (and thats a big but), once you find that path, you have to stop bouncing & start consolidating. When I’m hiring for Sr. leadership or ‘Level 1’ roles, I am clear, I almost always reject a resume that doesn't have at least one 4–5 year stint,” the post read. “Why? Because, usually, one cannot see the consequences of their own decisions in 12 months.Year 1 - You're learningYear 2 - You're executingYear 3 - You’re dealing with the mess in Year 2 and scaling the winsAnd so I believe, the right Strategy in early 20s -Age 21–24 - Explore aggressively. Find what you. Switch if you have to.Age 25+ - Dig in! Find a company worth your time and commit for 4 years.If you want to be a Founder or a CEO, you need to prove you can stay in the kitchen when it gets hot. It takes 1 year to understand a job but 3-5 to understand an industry. That's when you win,” added another. The post was shared on LinkedIn by the handle ‘Anupam Mittal’. The post was shared a day ago and pulled more than 6K views from netizens.
