Hyderabad Man Orders Oil Using Zepto, Receives Water Inside Sealed Bottle

Imagine you purchase oil– only to get a bottle full of water! Wait, what? Online grocery app Zepto recently found itself at the receiving end of a major backlash, after a Telangana man claimed that he received water inside a sealed oil bottle after ordering oil from the said app. The incident happened in Medchal, Hyderabad, after which the scammed customer- Sharath Yadav- recorded a video explaining the incident and of the item that he had received, and shared the same on social media.The clip showed him pouring the said “oil” in a bowl, which looked like water. The video soon went viral, pulling many reactions and concerns regarding such scams. As per India Today, the incident unfolded in Medchal’s Kranti Colony, after which Yadav reached out

to Zepto, only to get a disappointing response from the company.Reportedly, Zepto’s response was dismissive, as they hardly took any responsibility for the scam, citing that their role was limited to selling it, and not packaging it.As per India Today, the scammed customer has also taken the matter to the Consumer Court and has filed a complaint.The incident, along with highlighting the scam, also raised questions about the type of ‘quality check’ products go through during “fast or 1-minute deliveries”.Check out the viral post:“Ordered branded cooking oil on Zepto, got water instead!
