A printed instruction sheet inside a cab in Hyderabad has unexpectedly become the centre of an online debate, raising questions about everyday etiquette between drivers and passengers. The image, widely shared on social media, captures a list of rules laid out by the driver, prompting mixed reactions from users. The post, shared by a user named Aman on X, highlights what the driver expects from riders. The note clearly states that the cab belongs to the driver, not the passenger, and urges basic courtesy such as speaking politely, respecting the vehicle, and shutting doors gently. One line that particularly stood out asked passengers to “keep their attitude in their pocket,” emphasising that paying for a ride does not justify rude behaviour.Beyond
manners, the note also addresses fare-related conduct, cautioning passengers against acting as though they are overpaying. Another instruction that caught attention was the driver’s request not to be addressed as “bhaiya,” indicating a preference for a more neutral or respectful form of address.
The message further outlines expectations around safety and behaviour. Passengers are advised not to rush the driver or demand high speeds, but instead plan their time better. It also includes a firm warning against romantic behaviour inside the cab, stating that it is neither a private space nor a place for such activities. The post quickly gained traction online, with users divided in their responses. While some argued that customers also deserve respect and questioned the tone of the note, others backed the driver, saying he has the right to set boundaries in his own vehicle. Many also pointed out that such instructions may reflect the growing frustration among drivers dealing with difficult passengers, long hours, and pressure from ride-hailing platforms.
