The first Hanuman Jayanti marks Lord Hanuman's birth anniversary and the other is celebrated as the Vijay Abhinandan Mahotsav. As per Hindu scriptures, Sankatmochan Hanuman was born on the Chaturdashi Tithi of the Krishna Paksha in the Kartik month on a Tuesday during the Mesha Lagna. The other Hanuman Jayanti is observed in the Chaitra month. It is linked to a fascinating mythological tale. According to this legend, Lord Hanuman possessed extraordinary powers from birth. As a child, when he felt hungry, he mistook the sun for a fruit and attempted to eat it. As he approached the sun, he tried to swallow it, causing darkness to engulf the entire earth. When Lord Indra learned of this, he struck Hanuman with his Vajra to prevent him from swallowing the sun. This rendered Lord Hanuman unconscious. Upon discovering this, his father, Pawan Dev, became furious and stopped the flow of air across the universe. This caused chaos on earth. This is when Lord Brahma intervened to pacify Pawan Dev and revived Lord Hanuman. It is believed that Lord Hanuman was granted new life on the full moon day of the Chaitra month. This is why Hanuman Jayanti is also observed on this day every year. When Is The First Hanuman Jayanti Of 2026? According to the Hindu calendar, the full moon tithi of Chaitra Shukla Paksha will begin at 7:06 am on 1 April 2026. It will end at 7:41 am on 2 April 2026.
