The period of Jyeshtha Adhik Maas is going on currenly. In Sanatan Dharma, the Purnima (full moon) of Adhik Maas is important. "According to the Hindu
calendar, the Purnima of Adhik Maas occurs once every two and a half years. Adhik Maas is also known as Mal Maas or Purushottam Maas. Because this full moon falls in Adhik Maas, it is popularly known as Adhik Purnima. In Hinduism, Adhik Maas is considered a very sacred and important month. Therefore, the full moon that occurs during this month is regarded as special and different from a regular Purnima," states Drik Panchang. This year, the Jyeshtha Adhik Maas Purnima falls on 31 May 2026. Ancient scriptures describe the Adhik Maas Purnima as "Sarva Siddhi Dayini Purnima", meaning the full moon that grants all accomplishments. It is believed that worshipping Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu with proper rituals and observing a fast on this day brings happiness, prosperity and well-being. Snan (ritual bathing) and daan (donations) on Adhik Maas Purnima is said to bring endless merit. "As per the Shri Vishnu Sahasranama, Purushottam is one of names of Lord Vishnu, which means the best among men. Since this month is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it is also called Purushottam Maas," adds Drik Panchang.
