According to religious beliefs, worshipping Lord Ganesha with devotion helps ease difficulties in life and brings happiness, peace and prosperity to the home. "The Ganeshotsav, the festivity of Ganesh Chaturthi, ends after 10 days on Anant Chaturdashi which is also known as Ganesh Visarjan day. On Anant Chaturdashi, devotees immerse idol of Lord Ganesh in water body after a gala street procession," states Drik Panchang. Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi and Ganesh Chauth.

When Will Ganpati Visarjan Take Place?
At the end of Ganesh Utsav, the idol of Lord Ganesha is immersed in water. In 2026, Anant Chaturdashi will fall on Friday, 25 September. Ganpati Visarjan will be carried out on a large scale on this day.However, traditions around visarjan can vary between families and regions. Many devotees immerse the Ganesh idol after one and a half days, three days, five days or seven days. At public Ganesh festivals, grand visarjan processions are generally held on Anant Chaturdashi.
