Holika Dahan Date And Shubh Muhurat
Holika Dahan will be celebrated on March 3, 2026. Also, this year, the full moon will be from 5:55 pm on March 2 to 5:07 pm on March 3.The auspicious time to light the Holika is from 6:22 PM to 8:50 PM on March 3, 2026. Bhadra kaal will be from 1:25 AM to 2:35 AM. Bhadra Mukha will be from 2:35 AM to 4:30 AM.
Holika Dahan Puja Vidhi
Follow the below mentioned ritual:- Take a bath in the morning.
- Make idols of Holika and Prahlad from cow dung at the place of worship.
- Offer raw thread, jaggery, turmeric, green gram, batasha, gulal and coconut.
- You can also offer sweets and fruits.
- Worship Lord Narasimha along with Holika.
- Finally, circumambulate around Holika and pray for the happiness and prosperity of the family.
"According to Hindu scriptures Holika Dahan, which is also known as Holika Deepak or Chhoti Holi, should be done during Pradosh Kaal (which starts after sunset) while Purnimasi Tithi is prevailing.Bhadra prevails during first half of Purnimasi Tithi and all good work should be avoided when Bhadra prevails," states Drik Panchang.
It further states, "The first preference to get Holika Dahan Muhurta is during Pradosh while Purnimasi Tithi is prevailing and Bhadra is over. If Bhadra prevails during Pradosh but it ends before midnight, then Holika Dahan should be done after Bhadra is over. If Bhadra is getting over after midnight, then only Holika Dahan should be done in Bhadra and preferably during Bhadra Punchha. However, one should avoid Bhadra Mukha, and in no condition should Holika Dahan be done in Bhadra Mukha."
