The most remote and quietest railway stations worldwide will thrill you to bits!
Trains can take you anywhere. There is something magical about train journeys,
which is why they are still one of the most trusted modes of communication. It makes you go down the nostalgia lane with the sound of steel wheels swishing on the steel rail beneath you. Some train journeys swoosh beside spectacular coastlines, some rattle through historic monuments, while some whistle past dense jungles with wild animals staring back at some of the remotest corners of the world.
From the heart of deserts to dizzying latitudes, we search for the most isolated railway stations in the world that do not attract a maddening crowd but should be on the wish list of every travel enthusiast.
Corrour Station, Scotland, is the most remote rail station with no access to roads.
Corrour Station in the West Highlands, at the end of Rannoch, is the highest, most remote train station in the United Kingdom. Travelers come here to explore the wilderness of the English countryside. The station is unstaffed and has no ticketing facility, but has a telephone help point, WiFi, and a waiting room with bench seats and a cycle rack.
The route south from Corrour to Rannoch Station was used as a filming location in the Harry Potter films.
Cascada de la Macarena Station, Argentina, the southernmost functioning railway station
The railway station is built for tourists keen to explore Tierra del Fuego National Park. This narrow-gauge railway station, known as End of World Station, was used to transport timber and prisoners to and from a remote colony on the outskirts of Ushuaia.
The route takes passengers along the Pico Valley to Cascada de la Macarena station, where visitors can climb to a viewpoint at a 15-minute stop. The train then enters the national park and travels through the valley below the mountains, reaching El Parque station.

The Hurricane Turn, the last true ‘flag stop’ train in the US
The remotest rail line allows passengers to hop on and off as the train is flagged from a milepost alongside the track. Although serving as a lifeline to Alaskans, there is no set timetable, and it operates on the route depending on the number getting on and off along the way.
In fact, passengers between Talkeetna and Hurricane wave a white cloth for the train to make a stop anywhere along the route, and the train stops to pick them up.
