Vrindavan's Sacred Observances
In Vrindavan, a city steeped in spiritual significance, temples embraced Akshay Tritiya with fervor. The renowned Shri Bankey Bihari temple observed the
occasion based on the Hindu calendar's Udaya Tithi, celebrating on the sunrise date of Monday. This day holds unparalleled importance here, as it's the sole occasion throughout the year when devotees are granted a glimpse of the divine lotus feet of Thakur ji Maharaj. Simultaneously, the historical Radha Damodar temple commenced its preparations early on Monday morning. Temple priests meticulously mixed camphor, saffron, and perfume with sandalwood paste to adorn Thakur ji. The Sewayat shared that the intricate carving of the deity's attire takes an entire day, with darshan in the specially prepared attire occurring only in the evening. Thakur Radha Ballabh Lal was to be adorned with Hathphool and ankles crafted from sandalwood. Furthermore, the Radha Damodar temple initiated its Phool Bangla Utsav, offering cooling summer beverages such as Thandai, Sharbat, and Lassi to the deity.
Mathura & Govardhan Devotion
Mathura buzzed with activity as devotees gathered outside its major temples in anticipation of Akshay Tritiya. The city was meticulously organized for the celebrations, with the District Magistrate, Chandra Prakash Singh, outlining a comprehensive security and logistical plan. Vrindavan was divided into three zones and eleven sectors, manned by police personnel and magistrates. To ensure the well-being of attendees amidst challenging weather, ten medical teams and five ambulances were stationed strategically. Recognizing the extreme heat, arrangements for fans and coolers were made at various points, along with mats for devotees' comfort. The DM also emphasized the necessity of round-the-clock drinking water availability. In Govardhan, a significant number of devotees were observed performing the 'Maha Abhishek' and undertaking 'parikrama' (circumambulation). This ritual is deeply believed to lead to salvation on this auspicious day.
Ayodhya's Ram Devotion
Ayodhya witnessed a massive influx of devotees at the Ram temple, all eager to partake in prayers on Akshay Tritiya. This day is considered exceptionally sacred in Hindu tradition and is closely linked with Lord Ram himself. A member of the Ram temple trust, Anil Mishra, explained that it is believed that Lord Ram took his vow of truth on this very day. Consequently, visiting the Ram temple on Akshay Tritiya is thought to bestow eternal blessings and immense prosperity, drawing a large congregation of faithful individuals. To manage the festive occasion, the city implemented a robust three-tier security system, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for the thousands of pilgrims.
Varanasi's Spiritual Comfort
In Varanasi, a significant innovation was introduced at the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham during the 'Saptarishi Aarti' to offer comfort to Baba Shri Kashi Vishwanath. A fountain system was formally launched, designed to provide a cooling relief to the deity. This thoughtful arrangement is set to remain operational daily, dedicated to the service of Baba, until the festival of Raksha Bandhan. Temple authorities explained that, in accordance with tradition, this fountain is installed during the summer season specifically to provide cooling comfort to Shri Vishweshwar. It transcends a mere religious ritual, symbolizing the deep-seated faith and profound sentiments of all residents and devotees towards the deity, showcasing a blend of tradition and practical care.
