Automated Manual Transmission, or AMT, stands out as the most budget-friendly automatic choice available. At its core, it's a standard manual gearbox that
has been enhanced with an automated clutch system, eliminating the need for the driver to operate a clutch pedal or manually shift gears – the car handles these tasks. While it offers convenience, drivers might notice a slight jerkiness during gear changes, making it a suitable option for those mindful of their expenses.
Smooth CVT Operation
Continuously Variable Transmission, or CVT, takes a different approach by eschewing traditional fixed gears. Instead, it utilizes a sophisticated system of belts and pulleys to manage gear ratios, resulting in an exceptionally smooth driving experience. However, it ingeniously removes the clutch pedal, with sensors taking over the clutch operation. While it carries a price point above a standard manual, it remains more affordable than CVTs or DCTs, making it an appealing option for those who enjoy the control of manual shifting without the physical effort of a clutch.
Reliable Torque Converter
The Torque Converter represents the most established automatic transmission technology, and it has undergone significant advancements over the years. This system relies on hydraulic fluid to facilitate gear changes, delivering smooth transitions and performing exceptionally well, particularly with more powerful engines. Typically costing an additional Rs 1-1.5 lakh over a manual transmission, it is a dependable and versatile choice suitable for both urban commutes and highway journeys.
