Manali's Maggi Craze
The allure of a steaming hot plate of Maggi noodles is undeniable, especially for travelers visiting the hills. This snack has become a staple, making
any trip feel incomplete without it. A content creator, capitalizing on this demand, set up shop in Manali during peak tourist season. He aimed to see how much money could be made by becoming a Maggi seller. The creator used a simple setup: a table and an LPG cylinder, strategically located in a high-traffic area. The menu was straightforward: a plate of regular Maggi for Rs 70 and cheese Maggi for Rs 100, which made for a simple, yet efficient business model, ready to serve eager customers.
Rapid Sales, Huge Numbers
The content creator, Badal Thakur, documented the entire venture, revealing that the business took off almost immediately. Within the first four to five hours, he managed to sell nearly 200 plates. The steady flow of tourists kept the queue long, and by the end of the day, total sales reached an impressive 300 to 350 plates. This swift and substantial success highlighted the high demand for this simple snack. The video documenting the day's events went viral, amassing over 5 million views. Many viewers were astonished by the numbers, and some even speculated that consistent sales at this rate could generate monthly earnings exceeding Rs 6 lakh.
Calculating the Profits
The day's revenue came close to Rs 21,000, illustrating the potential of the business during peak tourist season. However, the creator clarified that this figure didn't factor in operational expenses. These costs included expenses like gas, disposable plates, and the price of the Maggi packets themselves. A 75-gram packet of Maggi typically costs around Rs 15 in the market. Subtracting these costs would naturally lower the actual profit earned from the day's sales, thus giving a more realistic understanding of the venture's financial outcome.
A Simple Formula
The content creator’s initiative highlighted a straightforward business strategy. The premise involved a basic menu with two choices: regular and cheese Maggi, with the prices being Rs 70 and Rs 100 per plate, respectively. The setup was also kept minimal, using a simple roadside stall setup with the basics required to cook and serve the Maggi. The creator's choice of location played a major role, and it was a busy area packed with tourists in Manali. This strategic approach coupled with the high demand for the product, paved the way for a successful experiment, creating an interesting story of entrepreneurship.
