Prospective pilgrims can now submit their applications for the revered Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026 through a completely online portal. The Ministry of
External Affairs (MEA) has streamlined the process, eliminating the need for physical submissions and ensuring all communications occur via the designated website. The deadline to apply is May 19, 2026. To ensure fairness and balance, the final selection of pilgrims will be conducted through a computerized lucky draw, reflecting a commitment to an equitable process for all applicants. Successful candidates will be notified via their registered email addresses and mobile numbers, making the process transparent and accessible.
Journey Routes Detailed
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026 is planned with twenty batches, each comprising approximately fifty participants, traversing two distinct and significant routes. The first option is via the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand, a more physically demanding path that typically takes around 22 days to complete and costs approximately Rs 2.09 lakh. This route involves considerable trekking. The second route is through the Nathu La Pass in Sikkim, which is comparatively less strenuous with some motorable segments, usually spanning about 21 days and incurring a cost of approximately Rs 3.31 lakh. Pilgrims have the flexibility to choose a single route or express a preference for both, allowing for a personalized pilgrimage experience.
Eligibility & Preparation
To be eligible for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026, applicants must be Indian citizens between the ages of 18 and 70 as of January 1, 2026, and possess a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity. Notably, foreign nationals and OCI cardholders are not permitted to undertake this yatra. Given the high-altitude environment, a mandatory medical screening is required to ensure pilgrims are fit for the journey. Participants should anticipate basic accommodation, potentially low oxygen levels, and unpredictable weather conditions, requiring thorough personal preparation. While the Uttar Pradesh government has provided financial assistance to some pilgrims in the past, pilgrims should budget for personal gear and other unforeseen expenses as the government does not offer general subsidies.
