Regional Pizza Renaissance
The culinary landscape of pizza across the Asia-Pacific region is undergoing a significant evolution, entering what can be described as a fine-dining era.
This transformation is marked by a growing emphasis on traditional techniques, such as the meticulous preparation of long-fermented doughs and the precise control of oven temperatures. A deeper appreciation for authentic Neapolitan pizza-making practices is becoming increasingly prevalent. This commitment to quality and craftsmanship is resulting in an overall improvement in the pizza offerings available throughout the region. The 2026 edition of the highly respected 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific awards, announced in Tokyo on March 9, 2026, vividly illustrates this shift. Within this esteemed competition, India has successfully secured three notable positions, showcasing its burgeoning pizza talent on a continental stage.
India's Top Contenders
Among the distinguished pizzerias recognized in the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific 2026 rankings, three Indian establishments have distinguished themselves with their exceptional offerings and commitment to quality. Da Susy, located in Gurugram, secured the impressive 11th position, marking it as the highest-ranking Indian pizzeria in the entire Asia-Pacific region. This achievement also earns da Susy a coveted spot in the global Top 100 Best Pizzerias list, an event scheduled to take place in Naples on September 15. Following closely, Leo's Pizzeria in New Delhi claimed the 41st spot, continuing its impressive track record of consistent recognition. Lastly, Cucina Marinara from Surat earned the 47th position, rounding out India's strong representation. These pizzerias exemplify the growing sophistication and dedication to authentic pizza making found within India.
Da Susy: Neapolitan Roots
Da Susy in Gurugram stands as a testament to authentic Neapolitan pizza artistry, holding the distinguished 11th position in the Asia-Pacific rankings. Founded by Susanna Di Cosimo, an Italian pizzaiola from Naples, the establishment embodies her passion and expertise. After relocating to India in 2013, Di Cosimo meticulously built da Susy into one of the nation's most respected pizza destinations, now operating across two locations in Gurugram. The pizzeria is celebrated for its distinctive dough: light, well-hydrated, and subjected to a long fermentation process, which ensures both a delicate texture and superior digestibility. Each pizza is crafted with precision and care, featuring a diverse menu that includes white, red, and special creations. The offerings strike a harmonious balance between meat and vegetarian options, with the popular Panuozzi also available. Classic pizzas like the Margherita are prepared with a profound respect for high-quality ingredients, adhering to a philosophy that prioritizes balance and ingredient integrity over excessive toppings.
Leo's: Pursuit of Perfection
New Delhi's Leo's Pizzeria has once again solidified its reputation by earning a place in the Asia-Pacific Top 50 for the fourth consecutive year. The driving force behind Leo's, Head Pizzaiolo Amol Kumar, emphasizes a continuous pursuit of refinement across all aspects of their operation. This dedication is evident in their meticulous sourcing of premium ingredients, including trips to Italy specifically to procure the finest tomatoes, and their commitment to perfecting their signature 48-hour fermented dough. Leo's pizzas are characterized by their lightness and freshness, utilizing creamy buffalo milk mozzarella and carefully selected toppings. The entire process is underpinned by a strong focus on flavor and unwavering quality, ensuring each pizza delivers a superior taste experience and adheres to their high standards.
Cucina Marinara: Fusion Flair
Surat's Cucina Marinara, skillfully managed by pizzaiolo Harmeet, has also made its mark on the prestigious list, securing the 47th position. At Cucina Marinara, the art of pizza making is executed with the precision and authenticity of traditional Italian techniques, from shaping the dough to the final bake. The menu thoughtfully combines timeless Italian favorites with innovative creations. A standout example is the 'Indian Passport' pizza, which ingeniously merges classic Neapolitan style with vibrant Indian flavors. Beyond pizzas, the establishment offers a selection of appetizers and pasta dishes featuring authentic Italian sauces. Complementing the food is a well-curated drinks menu, complete with a dedicated Italian espresso bar, enhancing the overall dining experience and showcasing a unique blend of influences.
