Electric Bus Initiative
The Gurugram City Bus Service is set to introduce 100 electric buses by the end of June. Infrastructure improvements, including the development of depots at Sector 10 and Sector 53, have been implemented to support the new electric bus fleet, marking a move towards sustainable transport solutions.

Recent incidents underscore road safety concerns in Gurugram. One notable event involved a speeding BMW that struck a biker on the Gurugram-Faridabad road. The accident highlights the need for vigilance and adherence to traffic rules. Another incident involved a motorcyclist who lost his life after colliding with a truck parked on the wrong side of the road, further emphasizing the importance of safe driving practices.
Fire at KoD
A major fire erupted at the Kingdom of Dreams (KoD) in Gurugram. The fire consumed the Culture Gully area, one of the most famous attractions within the complex. The incident highlighted the significant damage sustained by the structure, which had been sealed in July 2022 due to outstanding dues. The fire department responded to the emergency call, but substantial parts of the complex were already affected.
Civic Body Elections
Recent civic body elections in Gurugram saw the BJP securing a strong position, winning a significant majority of wards. Independent candidates also gained seats. In Manesar, independent candidates swept the polls, with Dr. Inderjit Yadav becoming the first independent mayor. These election outcomes reflect shifts in local political dynamics and the priorities of the electorate.
Focus on Safety

Furthermore, regulations for play schools in Gurugram have been updated, limiting classroom sizes to 20 students. These schools are also required to comply with new safety and accountability measures, including CCTV installations and employee background checks.
Illegal Constructions Demolished
The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has taken action against illegal constructions in Gurugram. Demolitions were carried out in Hayatpur and Sadhrana, targeting unauthorized colonies and constructions. Such measures underscore the administration's efforts to regulate urban development and enforce building regulations. These actions reflect ongoing efforts to control unauthorized growth.
Smart Traffic Signals
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has installed smart traffic signals across the city. This project involves 104 signals, with 42 of them linked to an integrated command and control center. This initiative aims to improve traffic management and streamline traffic flow, leveraging technology to enhance urban infrastructure and efficiency.
Metro Expansion
The first phase of the Gurugram Metro expansion is underway, with tenders floated for construction. The project involves building a 15.22 km metro rail viaduct, 15 stations, a spur to the Dwarka Expressway, and a ramp leading to the depot. This infrastructure development is set to improve connectivity and public transport options within the city, contributing to its ongoing growth and urbanization.
