Anuloma Viloma
Anuloma Viloma, also known as alternate nostril breathing, is a wonderful technique for achieving inner peace. It involves systematically breathing through
one nostril while blocking the other, and then alternating. This practice helps to balance the nervous system, reduce anxiety, and promote mental clarity. To begin, sit comfortably with your spine straight. Close your right nostril with your right thumb. Inhale deeply through your left nostril. Then, close the left nostril with your ring finger and release your thumb, exhaling through your right nostril. Inhale through your right nostril, close it, and exhale through your left. Repeat this cycle for several rounds. This practice can be incredibly soothing for the mind and a great way to start or end your day.
Kapalbhati Kriya
Kapalbhati kriya, often referred to as 'skull shining breath,' is a dynamic breathing exercise that revitalizes the body and mind. It involves rapid, forceful exhales followed by passive inhales. This technique helps to cleanse the respiratory system, increase energy levels, and sharpen focus. To perform Kapalbhati, sit in a comfortable position. Take a deep breath, and then exhale forcefully through your nose, pulling your navel in toward your spine. The inhale should happen naturally as you release the abdominal muscles. Continue with this rhythmic pattern of forceful exhales and passive inhales. Be mindful and avoid overexertion; begin with a few rounds and gradually increase the duration as you become comfortable. Practicing Kapalbhati can bring a feeling of lightness and rejuvenation.
