Metro's Swift Services
The Kochi Metro streamlines travel, saving valuable time for commuters. It also serves as a budget-friendly option, ensuring quicker transit between locations
in comparison to battling traffic. The metro operates from 6 AM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Saturday, and from 8 AM to 10:30 PM on Sundays. A ride from Aluva Metro Station to Petta Metro Station takes only 21 minutes. For those traveling between Pathadipalam and Petta, the journey lasts about 7 minutes, while the trip from Aluva to Cochin University takes around 16 minutes. These timings demonstrate the metro's efficiency in providing swift and effective transport throughout Kochi.
Digital Ticketing System
Commuters have the option to buy tickets directly from their smartphones using the Kochi1 mobile application, making travel even more convenient. To use this service, download the app from either the Google Play Store or the App Store. Once installed, users must create an account, which is followed by the generation of a unique mPIN. Travelers can then specify their boarding and destination stations within the app. After selecting the ticket, they are offered different digital payment options. After completing the payment, a QR code will be provided that can be scanned at the entry point of the metro platform. This system aims to provide a fast, easy and reliable way to buy tickets.
WhatsApp Ticketing Perks
Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) is committed to digital and paperless ticketing through various initiatives. This includes a 10% discount on tickets bought via WhatsApp during regular hours. Passengers can also avail a 50% discount during off-peak times. In line with its objective of integrated travel, KMRL intends to introduce interoperable tickets for both the Kochi Metro and the Water Metro in 2024. The organization hopes to reach an average ridership of one lakh passengers each day. This strategy underlines KMRL's commitment to enhancing commuter experience and encouraging the use of public transport within the city.
