Prep Your Hair
The initial phase involves preparing your hair for the desired textured effect. Begin by sectioning your hair, which helps in managing and controlling
the volume. The core of this step is applying a texturizing spray. This product is key to creating the messy, lived-in texture seen in Deepika's bun. If texturizing spray is unavailable, dry shampoo serves as a practical alternative. Once the texturizing product is applied, it is important to observe how your hair naturally parts. This step helps in deciding where to create volume, typically at the crown, to add fullness to the final style. After identifying the parting and achieving the desired volume at the crown, secure this section.
Add Some Volume
The second step involves enhancing volume and adding lift to the hair at the crown. This is achieved by teasing the sectioned hair, using a slight backcomb technique. The teasing process creates the necessary volume, giving the hair a fuller appearance. If more texture is desired, additional texturizing spray can be applied. Once the volume is created and secured with a hairpin, you've set the stage for the bun.
Twist and Secure
The final step guides you in forming the bun and securing it in place. Gently twist the remaining hair from the ponytail around the base of the ponytail. Secure this twisted section in place using hairpins to hold the bun's shape. For a more relaxed and intentionally messy look, gently pull out a few strands around the face and nape of the neck. To complete and set the hairstyle, finish with hairspray and a spritz of gloss spray to give a polished look.
