Aspiring postgraduate medical students should mark their calendars, as the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the tentative
dates for the NEET PG 2026 examination, scheduled to take place on August 30, 2026. Simultaneously, the FMGE December 2026 exam is slated for January 9, 2026. It's important to remember that while these dates offer a preliminary roadmap for candidates, some medical institutions have their own admission processes independent of NEET PG, adhering to their specific regulatory frameworks. Therefore, prospective candidates are advised to verify admission criteria with individual colleges, particularly those that do not use the NEET PG score for admissions, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the application pathways.
DrNB Exam Revisions
Significant adjustments have been made to the DrNB (Diplom of National Board) final examination schedule. For the October 2026 session, the examinations for Super Specialty and Post MBBS Part-1 and Part-2 batches from the 2023 admission cohort are now planned between September 25 and September 27, 2026. The deadline for completing the required training for this session is February 17, 2027. Furthermore, the DrNB final examination for the April 2027 session, catering to candidates from the 2021 admission session, is slated to occur from March 26 to March 28, 2027. Training completion cut-off dates for this session vary, ranging from December 31, 2026, to May 31, 2027, depending on specific candidate categories.
NEET-SS and Diploma Exams
The highly anticipated NEET-SS 2026, a critical examination for super specialty admissions, has been tentatively scheduled for a two-day period on December 11 and December 12, 2026. Candidates aiming for these coveted seats must ensure they complete their basic entry qualifications by January 31, 2027. In addition to these, the NBEMS has also laid out dates for diploma-level examinations. The theory exam for the June 2026 NBEMS Diploma session is scheduled from May 14 to May 16, 2026, while the October 2026 session will be held from September 11 to September 13, 2026. For the DNB (Diplomate of National Board) final examinations, the June 2026 session is set for June 18 to June 21, 2026, and the December 2026 session is planned from November 19 to November 22, 2026.

NBEMS has strongly emphasized that all the dates announced are provisional and subject to change. The definitive examination dates, along with comprehensive details regarding eligibility criteria, application procedures, and examination patterns, will be officially communicated through dedicated Information Bulletins.
