New Tech Frontier
In response to a rapidly expanding market for advanced technological expertise, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has announced the introduction
of a new Master of Technology (M.Tech) program. This specialized course will focus on the dynamic fields of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, with admissions slated for the 2026-27 academic session. The University School of Information, Communication, and Technology (USICT) will be the host department for this forward-thinking initiative. This strategic move by GGSIPU aims to cultivate a cadre of highly skilled professionals precisely when the Indian economy and its industries are experiencing unprecedented growth in these sectors. The program's design is a direct answer to the increasing requirement for specialists capable of navigating the complexities of AI and robotics, thereby contributing significantly to the nation's technological advancement and economic development. The limited intake of 21 seats underscores the specialized nature and anticipated high demand for this advanced degree.
Eligibility & Admissions
Aspiring candidates seeking to enroll in GGSIPU's M.Tech program in Robotics and AI must meet specific academic prerequisites. A minimum aggregate score of 60 percent in their qualifying examinations is mandatory. The program welcomes graduates from a diverse range of engineering and science disciplines that are foundational to robotics and AI. This includes, but is not limited to, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering. Furthermore, individuals who have already completed postgraduate studies in related fields such as IT, Electronics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or Applied Physics are also encouraged to apply. The primary selection criterion for admission is based on merit, determined by valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) scores in relevant disciplines for the 2026-27 academic year. Should any seats remain unfilled after the GATE-qualified merit list is finalized, the university will consider candidates who have successfully cleared its own Common Entrance Test (CET). In the event that seats are still vacant after assessing the CET merit list, admissions will then proceed based on the merit list generated from the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
Industry Demand & Scope
The launch of GGSIPU's M.Tech program in Robotics and AI is a direct reflection of the surging demand for specialized talent within India's rapidly evolving technological landscape. As highlighted by Professor Pushpender Bharti of USICT, the scope for professionals in this domain is expanding at an exponential rate. The need for skilled AI engineers, data scientists, and robotics engineers is not just growing but is becoming critical for businesses across the spectrum. Both established corporations and emerging startups are actively seeking individuals with advanced expertise to drive innovation and operational efficiency. This burgeoning field is poised to make a substantial contribution to the overall economic growth of India, fostering new industries and enhancing productivity in existing ones. The program's intake is capped at 21 seats, reflecting a targeted approach to nurturing niche talent that will be instrumental in shaping the future of technology and industry in the country.
