Design Unveiled
The automotive landscape in India is poised for a significant enhancement with the upcoming introduction of a new sport utility vehicle, anticipated to launch
around the festive Diwali period in 2026. This vehicle, a product of a strategic partnership, is now being officially previewed through early marketing materials, offering a first glimpse of its distinctive front-end styling. Key design cues include prominent circular headlamp housings, each illuminated by thin, horizontal LED strips, and an eye-catching pixel-style LED fog lamp arrangement. The bonnet presents a notably flat and upright profile, contributing to a rugged aesthetic that is further accentuated by muscular detailing on the bumper and wheel arches. These design elements are consistent with the international Jetour T2 model, suggesting a strong visual lineage, though subtle modifications such as slightly more compact side mirrors and revised branding are expected for the Indian market.
Hybrid Powertrain Details
While the international variant of this SUV is available in both fully electric and plug-in hybrid configurations, the Indian market is slated to receive exclusively the hybrid powertrain. This system will leverage a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which generates an output of 154 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque. This engine will be complemented by a substantial 26.7 kWh battery pack. A significant advantage of this setup is its impressive electric-only driving range, claimed to be 139 kilometers according to NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) standards, allowing for emission-free commutes for many users. The global model offers choices between a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup and a more capable dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration, hinting at potential performance variations.
Tech-Infused Cabin
The interior of this forthcoming SUV is designed to impress with a bold and technologically advanced aesthetic. Drivers and passengers can anticipate a modern and feature-rich cabin environment. Central to the dashboard is a generously sized 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complemented by a 10.25-inch digital display for the driver's instruments. Enhancing the sense of space and luxury is a panoramic sunroof. Convenience features are abundant, including wireless charging capabilities and a premium 12-speaker sound system from Sony. For added comfort, the front seats will offer powered adjustments and ventilation. The climate control system will be automatic, ensuring consistent cabin temperature. The safety suite is equally comprehensive, featuring a 360-degree camera system for superior situational awareness, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) at Level 2, and essential aids like hill-start and hill-descent control. It is highly probable that the Indian-spec model will retain all these advanced features.
Market Entry and Pricing
The official launch window for this new SUV is targeted for around Diwali in 2026, a popular time for major product introductions in India. However, the timeline might experience slight adjustments due to potential delays in obtaining necessary approvals for importing components sourced from China. Industry observers anticipate the vehicle will be priced competitively, with an expected range falling between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. This pricing strategy positions the SUV to contend with established rivals in the segment, such as the Mahindra XUV 7XO and the Tata Safari, setting the stage for an interesting market dynamic. Production of the SUV will take place at the company's new manufacturing facility located in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra.
