Choose Your Adventure
Roaring Camp offers a distinctive way to explore California's iconic redwood forests. Travelers can select from two distinct journeys. One option is the
Dixiana, a 75-minute trip that transports guests up Bear Mountain before returning to the village. For a more extensive exploration, a three-hour ride connects Roaring Camp to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Passengers can begin their adventure at either of these locations, traveling through Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, passing through a gorge and a 19th-century tunnel, offering a scenic and historical experience. The historic Santa Cruz Big Trees & Pacific Railway has been operating since 1875, adding a layer of heritage to this memorable journey. This provides an opportunity to choose an adventure that fits your desired timeframe.
Family-Friendly Fun
Families planning a visit to Roaring Camp can enhance their day with additional activities designed for children. Beyond the scenic train ride, opportunities like gold panning and candle making are available, providing hands-on experiences. Ample outdoor spaces invite children to run around or enjoy a picnic. Reservations for train tickets are recommended in advance. Prices start at $27 for children and $42 for adults, with children under two traveling free of charge. The park also hosts a diverse calendar of special events. The schedule features holiday-themed tours on illuminated trains, educational weekend rides in March, an Easter Egg Hunt in April, and dinner excursions on selected dates throughout the year, ensuring there's always something exciting happening.
