Maharashtra's government has given the green light to a truly massive undertaking, approving special incentives for 18 substantial industrial ventures.
This ambitious initiative represents an aggregate investment of a staggering Rs 2,56,137.01 crore. The primary objective behind this colossal financial commitment is the creation of an estimated one lakh direct and indirect job opportunities throughout the state. These approvals, stemming from the 14th meeting of the cabinet sub-committee focused on industries, energy, labor, and mining, were personally endorsed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The meeting saw the attendance of key figures such as Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Industries Minister Uday Samant, and various senior government officials, underscoring the collaborative effort to drive economic progress. The strategic focus lies on developing cutting-edge sectors, including solar energy components like cells, modules, ingots, and wafers, alongside pioneering efforts in green steel, green ammonia production, advanced electronics, and the burgeoning fields of space and defense equipment. Furthermore, the state is actively promoting investments in lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicles, traditional steel manufacturing, and innovative gas-to-chemicals technologies, signaling a comprehensive approach to industrial advancement and future readiness.
Sectoral Investment Breakdown
The approved projects showcase a diverse range of investments across critical and emerging industries, with several notable examples highlighting the scale of this development. Virtuoso Compressors Pvt Ltd is set to inject Rs 800 crore into Nashik, expecting to generate 500 jobs, while Tembo Defence Products Pvt Ltd will contribute Rs 1,000 crore to Amravati's economy. In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Nidec Global Appliances India Pvt Ltd plans a Rs 1,000 crore facility that will employ 1,000 individuals. Shirur, near Pune, will see Jabil Circuit India Pvt Ltd invest Rs 1,500 crore, aiming to create 3,000 jobs. Gadchiroli's industrial base will be strengthened by Hariom Pipe Industries Ltd's Rs 3,135 crore investment, promising 8,000 employment opportunities. Further diversification is evident with Nibe Space's Rs 4,000 crore investment in Ahilyanagar and Eurobus India Pvt Ltd's Rs 4,200 crore venture in Talegaon, which anticipates creating 12,000 jobs. Million Steel Pvt Ltd is investing Rs 256.01 crore in Chandrapur. Ashok Leyland Ltd plans a significant Rs 10,000 crore investment in Bhandara, generating 1,000 jobs. ACME Cleantech Solutions Pvt Ltd is making substantial contributions with an Rs 11,400 crore project in Butibori (Nagpur) and an additional Rs 11,000 crore dedicated to a green steel initiative in the Raigad/Palghar region. Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd will invest Rs 12,780 crore in Nagpur, and Globe Forge Ltd is committing Rs 15,430 crore across Ahilyanagar and Dharashiv. Balasore Alloys will invest Rs 17,479 crore in Raigad. Godavari New Energy Pvt Ltd is set to invest Rs 27,515 crore in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and ACME Cleantech is also developing a major green ammonia project valued at Rs 37,800 crore in Raigad/Palghar. The industrial landscape in Gadchiroli is further boosted by Rashmi Metallurgical Industries Pvt Ltd's Rs 40,000 crore investment, projected to create 20,000 jobs. The largest single investment comes from Essar Exploration and Production Ltd, a massive Rs 56,852 crore injection into Raigad, expected to generate 25,000 jobs.
