Mandatory App Arrival
Starting September 1st, a new requirement came into effect for international travelers arriving at major Indonesian entry points. Visitors landing at Soekarno-Hatta
Airport in Banten, Juanda Airport in East Java, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, and Batam Port in the Riau Islands are now obligated to download and use the 'All Indonesia' app. This initiative streamlines the often-complex entry process by merging immigration, customs, health, and quarantine declarations into a single digital form. This digital shift is designed to speed up the arrival procedure, which offers added convenience for all passengers, including those with special needs. The government plans to expand the use of the app across all airports, airlines, and international ports nationwide after an initial testing phase.
Streamlined Entry Process
The 'All Indonesia' app simplifies the declaration process for arriving visitors. By combining the often-separate procedures for immigration, customs, health screenings, and quarantine declarations into one digital platform, the app aims to significantly reduce processing times at entry points. Yuldi Yusman from the Directorate General of Immigration mentioned that the application is not only about convenience; it also enhances safety and security for all passengers. Travelers can access the app up to three days before their arrival. The app is available on allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id, as well as the Google Play Store and the App Store, providing easy access and preparation for visitors before they even begin their trip to Indonesia. The app's goal is to improve the experience for all users, including those who may require additional assistance.
Tourist Tax Reminder
Along with the new app mandate, visitors are reminded of the mandatory tourist levy implemented by Bali's provincial government. All international visitors must pay a fee of 150,000 Indonesian Rupiah (approximately $10 USD) before or during their stay. This fee can be paid online, at designated counters upon arrival, or through authorized hotels and tour operators. The revenue generated from the tax is allocated to support the preservation of Balinese culture, heritage, and environmental conservation efforts, emphasizing the importance of supporting local initiatives. This is a reminder that visitors contribute directly to the conservation of what makes Bali a unique destination, in line with respectful travel.
Respectful Travel Guidelines
In conjunction with the recent changes, Bali’s provincial government has reiterated guidelines for visitors, emphasizing the importance of respecting Balinese customs and cultural practices. Tourists are urged to dress modestly, avoiding attire that might be considered offensive, and to use licensed guides when visiting natural or cultural sites. These guidelines aim to foster a respectful atmosphere, acknowledging the cultural heritage of Bali. By adhering to these principles, travelers contribute to the preservation and continuation of the rich Balinese traditions, culture, and environment. Tourists are reminded to exchange currency at authorized money conversion points to ensure fair and regulated transactions.
