spot. Prospective pilgrims must submit their applications online by May 19, 2026. This year, the selection process has been streamlined to be entirely digital, eliminating the need for physical submissions. Applicants will be notified of their selection via their registered email ID and mobile number. The final selection of yatris is determined through a fair and transparent computerised draw of lots, meticulously designed to ensure gender balance and equal opportunity for all. Given the limited number of available slots each year, it is strongly advised to apply well in advance to increase your chances of being chosen for this revered pilgrimage.
Diverse Yatra Routes
The 2026 Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will facilitate approximately 20 distinct batches, each comprising around 50 pilgrims, traversing two primary routes. The Lipulekh Pass route in Uttarakhand offers a more physically demanding experience, involving approximately 22 days of travel and extensive trekking, with an estimated cost of Rs 2.09 lakh. Alternatively, the Nathu La Pass route in Sikkim provides a comparatively more accessible journey of about 21 days, including some motorable sections, at an approximate cost of Rs 3.31 lakh. Applicants have the flexibility to choose a single preferred route or indicate a preference for both, allowing for a personalized pilgrimage experience tailored to their comfort and physical capabilities.
Eligibility and Readiness
To be eligible for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra 2026, Indian citizens must be between 18 and 70 years old as of January 1, 2026, and possess a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity. Please note that foreign nationals and OCI cardholders are not eligible for this particular yatra. Due to the high-altitude nature of the journey, a mandatory medical screening is a prerequisite for all participants. Travellers should be prepared for basic accommodation, lower oxygen levels, and unpredictable weather conditions. While the government does not offer subsidies, pilgrims should budget for personal equipment and incidentals; however, some financial assistance has been provided by state governments, such as Rs 1 lakh distributed to 555 pilgrims by the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister's office.
