Bridging the Distance
To accommodate the increased travel demand during the summer vacation period, particularly from families, religious travelers, and those undertaking long
journeys from various Karnataka districts, a new special train service has been introduced. This initiative aims to enhance travel convenience and significantly reduce the waiting times commonly experienced on popular routes. The weekly service operates for a total of 9 trips throughout April and May, ensuring enhanced connectivity during this peak holiday season. This proactive measure by the railways seeks to provide a direct and efficient travel option to Rameswaram, a prominent pilgrimage destination in South India, thereby mitigating the usual difficulties in securing confirmed tickets during such busy times.
Navigating the Route
The special train, identified by numbers 07355 and 07356, operates weekly in both directions, facilitating travel between Hubballi and Rameswaram. The journey from Hubballi to Rameswaram (Train No. 07355) departs every Sunday at 6:50 AM, arriving at 5:20 AM the following day, making it an efficient overnight journey. Conversely, the return service from Rameswaram to Hubballi (Train No. 07356) departs on Mondays at 8:00 PM, reaching Hubballi at 7:40 PM on Tuesday. This scheduling is optimized for passenger convenience, allowing for early morning or evening arrivals to ease onward travel plans. The route is strategically designed to serve a wide range of passengers, connecting numerous key stations across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Extensive Station Network
The newly introduced train makes several important stops, significantly improving accessibility for travelers originating from or traveling to various regions. Key stations along the route include Haveri, Ranebennur, Harihar, Davanagere, Chikkajajur, Birur, Arsikere, Tiptur, and Tumakuru in Karnataka. The service further extends to Banaswadi and Hosur before entering Tamil Nadu, with stops at Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Pudukkottai, Karaikudi, Sivaganga, Manamadurai, and Ramanathapuram, ultimately reaching Rameswaram. This comprehensive network ensures connectivity for travelers from the central, southern, and northern parts of Karnataka, offering a convenient mode of transport to a significant pilgrimage site.
Comfort and Convenience
Catering to diverse passenger needs, the special train is equipped with a variety of accommodation classes. It features one AC First Class coach, two AC Two-Tier coaches, and three AC Three-Tier coaches for those seeking premium comfort. For more budget-conscious travelers, there are six Sleeper Class coaches and four General Second Class coaches. To enhance the travel experience on this long-distance route, the train includes a pantry car, ensuring food and beverage services are available onboard. Additionally, it is fitted with a generator-cum-brake van for power supply and a specially designed divyang-friendly luggage-cum-brake coach, prioritizing accessibility and operational efficiency for all passengers.
