Payout Camps Begin
The district administration has initiated a crucial step for the Noida International Airport expansion by commencing daily land compensation payout camps
across 14 villages in the Jewar region. This accelerated process, starting Friday, aims to expedite the disbursement of funds to farmers whose land has been acquired for the project's phases 3 and 4. Covering a significant expanse of 1,838 hectares, these camps are a vital component of the rehabilitation plan, ensuring affected landowners receive their rightful compensation swiftly and transparently. The villages benefiting from this initiative include Thora, Neemka Shahjahanpur, Khwajpur, Ramner, Kishorepur, Banwaribas, Parohi, Muqimpur Shivara, Jewar Bangar, Sabauta Mustafabad, Ahmedpur Chaurauli, Dayanatpur, Bankapur, and Rohi. These camps are strategically located in accessible public spaces like primary schools, panchayat bhawans, and community centers, ensuring ease of access for all eligible farmers until every individual has been compensated. The compensation rate is set at Rs 4,300 per square meter, along with applicable interest, a measure designed to provide fair value for the acquired land and support the relocation and resettlement of approximately 16,000 farming families.
Streamlined Compensation Process
District Magistrate Medha Roopam highlighted that these newly established camps are designed to meticulously organize paperwork and significantly speed up the entire compensation distribution process. The goal is to ensure every payout is handled with utmost clarity and efficiency. Each camp is equipped with dedicated revenue teams tasked with collecting all necessary documentation directly from the affected farmers. These teams will then prepare the compensation files and finalize all required formalities on the spot, a departure from previous, more time-consuming methods. To facilitate this, a revenue inspector, a lekhpal (village accountant), and an amin (village surveyor) have been assigned to each of the 14 villages. This concentrated deployment ensures that the complex administrative steps, which previously could take several days to navigate through multiple offices, are now consolidated into a single day at the camp. Jewar SDM Durgesh Singh, appointed as the nodal officer for this operation, is mandated to visit these camps daily to oversee the process, verify files, and provide necessary approvals before they are forwarded to the additional district magistrate (land acquisition) for the final processing. This organized approach is expected to drastically reduce the time farmers wait to receive their compensation, drawing parallels to the efficiency seen during the initial phase of land acquisition.
Project Expansion and Future Vision
The land acquisition and compensation efforts are directly fueling the ambitious expansion of the Noida International Airport, transforming it into a comprehensive aviation and industrial hub. Beyond passenger terminal expansions, which include adding substantial square footage to handle millions more passengers annually, phases 3 and 4 are critical for developing cargo complexes and aerospace manufacturing zones. This expansion will see the creation of dedicated cargo facilities and aerospace clusters, attracting global aerospace players to the region. Infrastructure enhancements include the addition of numerous aircraft parking bays and the development of rapid exit taxi tracks to improve operational efficiency. The planned Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, alongside a second runway, are key components that will elevate the airport's capabilities. The acquisition of land for resettlement and rehabilitation colonies, such as in Jewar Bangar and seven other villages, is also progressing, with compensation for approximately 1,080 families at Rs 4,300 per sqm currently underway. This holistic approach ensures that the airport's growth extends beyond passenger traffic to become a significant contributor to logistics and aerospace manufacturing.
