Sculpted Exterior Evolution
The updated BYD Atto 3, also known as the Yuan Plus in its home market, presents a noticeably more refined and dynamic appearance. While retaining its distinctive
silhouette, the front end has been artfully reshaped with a more sculpted bumper and a prominent, connected LED light bar, enhancing its assertive road presence. The side profile receives a modern touch with newly designed alloy wheels, some measuring up to 19 inches, and flush door handles that contribute to a sleeker look. A subtle floating roof effect further adds to its contemporary appeal. At the rear, revised tail lights featuring an illuminated brand logo contribute to a cohesive and sophisticated finish. Beyond aesthetics, the vehicle has undergone a significant dimensional increase. Measuring 4,665mm in length, 1,895mm in width, and 1,675mm in height, it's substantially larger than its predecessor. The wheelbase has also been extended by 50mm to 2,770mm, effectively moving it into a higher vehicle class and promising a more commanding presence on the road along with increased interior volume. This expansion in size is coupled with enhanced practicality, featuring a claimed 750 litres of boot space and an additional 180 litres available in the front trunk, making it a highly versatile option for families and long journeys.
Refined Cabin Experience
Stepping inside the new BYD Atto 3 reveals a cabin that exudes maturity and sophistication, moving away from the previous model's more avant-garde styling. The interior design is cleaner, featuring a fresh two-spoke steering wheel and an updated digital instrument cluster that provides clear, crisp information. The central infotainment touchscreen has also been enlarged, offering improved usability and a more immersive experience. Thoughtful enhancements for passenger comfort include an additional reclining function for the front passenger seat, elevating the sense of luxury. Practical touches designed for everyday convenience are also present, such as a heated and cooled storage compartment. The equipment list has been significantly bolstered to impress, with features like a panoramic glass roof that bathes the interior in natural light, an expansive 256-colour ambient lighting system for personalized mood setting, and a premium 16-speaker audio setup for an exceptional acoustic experience. For device connectivity, users benefit from both 50W wireless charging and rapid 60W USB Type-C charging ports. In certain markets, an advanced LiDAR-assisted automated driving system is also available, positioning this new model in a more cutting-edge segment compared to its predecessor.
Advanced Battery & Charging
The powertrain of the new BYD Atto 3 introduces significant advancements, particularly in its battery technology and charging capabilities. For the Chinese market, two configurations of the second-generation Blade Battery are offered. The standard option is a 57.54kWh pack, which BYD claims can deliver an impressive range of 540km according to CLTC standards. For those seeking extended travel distances, a larger 68.54kWh battery is available, pushing the claimed range up to 630km. Power is delivered to the rear wheels as standard, driven by electric motors producing either 271bhp or a more potent 326bhp, offering a substantial boost in performance over previous versions. The most groundbreaking feature, however, is BYD's Flash Charging technology. The manufacturer states that under optimal conditions, the battery can be charged from 10% to 97% in an astonishingly short nine minutes. Furthermore, a rapid top-up from 10% to 70% can be achieved in merely five minutes, a capability that drastically reduces charging downtime and enhances the practicality of electric vehicle ownership.
