Expressway Connectivity Boost
In a move set to revolutionize travel in Uttar Pradesh, a new 74.3-kilometer long link expressway is planned to seamlessly connect the Yamuna Expressway
and the Ganga Expressway. This ambitious project is designed to significantly streamline access to the recently inaugurated Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar Airport. The initiative aims to bolster the road network in regions surrounding the new airport, anticipating a surge in passenger traffic as flight operations commence. By providing a direct link between these two major arterial routes, the expressway will offer a more efficient and time-saving travel experience for a wide range of travelers, including those journeying from Delhi, western Uttar Pradesh, and central Uttar Pradesh. Authorities believe that improved road connectivity will not only enhance the utility of the airport but also stimulate economic activities across the entire region.
Detailed Project Report Ready
The comprehensive plan for this vital link expressway, known as the Detailed Project Report (DPR), is currently being finalized. It is anticipated that this report will be submitted to the government by May, paving the way for the commencement of construction work. This strategic link is crucial for the operational efficiency of the Noida International Airport, which is preparing for flight services in mid-April. The project is a testament to the government's commitment to enhancing infrastructure to support major transportation hubs. The objective is to ensure that the surrounding road network is robust and capable of handling the anticipated increase in traffic, thereby providing a superior travel experience for passengers and contributing to the overall development of the area.
Route and Dimensions
The proposed Greater Noida Link Expressway will span approximately 74.3 kilometers and is slated to be 120 meters wide. This generous width is intended to accommodate future increases in traffic volume with ease. The project's path will traverse approximately 20 kilometers through the Gautam Buddh Nagar district, falling under the purview of the Yamuna Authority. The larger portion, roughly 54.3 kilometers, will pass through the Bulandshahr district. Specifically, the expressway is planned to pass through the Syana region of Bulandshahr and connect to the Ganga Expressway near the Film City, close to Yamuna City. This direct integration will effectively link the two major expressways, creating a unified and efficient transportation corridor.
Strategic Importance and Approval
The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEDA) is spearheading the development of this significant project. The state government has already granted in-principle approval for the expressway. Once the DPR is complete, it will be forwarded for final governmental sanction. Following this approval, the construction phase will be initiated. The overarching goal is to synchronize the development of the surrounding road infrastructure with the airport's operational launch, ensuring that travelers benefit from enhanced connectivity from day one. This strategic alignment highlights the government's forward-thinking approach to infrastructure development and its commitment to supporting key national projects.
Economic Growth Catalyst
Experts believe that the completion of this link expressway will significantly accelerate the pace of development in Western Uttar Pradesh. Enhanced road connectivity is poised to provide a substantial boost to sectors such as industry, logistics, and tourism. Furthermore, the project is expected to unlock new investment opportunities in Noida, Greater Noida, Bulandshahr, and surrounding districts. The most immediate and significant benefit will be the vastly improved and expedited access to Noida International Airport, saving travelers considerable time. Ultimately, this development will fortify the entire region's transportation network, fostering economic prosperity and improving the quality of life for residents.
